HOW DO I KNOW WHICH HEARING AIDS ARE BEST FOR ME?
Imagine walking into a new car dealership and asking which make of car is best for you. Now apply this to hearing health care, where the clinic you attend is owned by a hearing aid manufacturer. Your hearing rehabilitation program is now limited to that manufacturer, whether it suits you or not.
If all cars did the same thing, why offer a choice between petrol, diesel, hybrid and EV power? If all hearing aid manufacturers were the same, why have 300 different models across several manufacturers? Because they’re not the same.
Now imagine being recommended ‘white label’ hearing aids that have been rebranded by the company that fits them. Who is the manufacturer? Where are they made? If you are investing your time and funds into hearing aids, can you find their specs & features online, and read their reviews? How do they compare with other makes and models? Are they overpriced?
In Australia, every single ‘big box’ corporate chain is either owned by a hearing aid manufacturer, or white labels their devices.
And this is why it’s so important to be independent. Hearing aids can’t be ranked like whitegoods. Every patient has individual needs and wants, and we lean into our extensive clinical experience to make the best possible recommendation with your input. Without bias. Genuine choice leads to better outcomes. This goes to the core of our DNA.

There’s always something newer and shinier, but we would generally advise you wait for at least 2-3 product cycles before the difference becomes noticeable and worthwhile. And even then, a back-to-back, real world trial against your current hearing aids (which have been optimised) is the best way to be sure. How do we optimise your existing aids?
- Updating firmware
- Changing parts like receivers, rechargeable batteries or tubing
- Dehumidification, which takes 10min in the clinic
- Recalibration to current hearing levels
